A Marine Engineer, Ecologist and Researcher.
MUSIC
Ed Sheeran (Castle on the Hill), John Coltrane (In a Sentimental Mood), and the legendary Cantonese Beyond (海阔天空)—these are my absolute favourites!
Rhythms of Renewal: Physics and the Resonance of Oceanic Transformation
Before the Industrial Revolution, human activities minimally impacted the ocean, enabling the marine ecosystem to thrive and maintain a generally healthy state. Although activities such as fishing and navigation existed, their scale was limited, exerting negligible influence on the marine environment. However, this did not remain the case for long, as the Industrial Revolution began…
I made a short musical video that fuses mechanical engineering, physics, and marine conservation to inspire action through creative expression.
Here, classical melodies evoke the serene beauty of the sea, while dynamic jazz tones mirror the relentless energy of industrial progress. This narrative weaves together the evolution of physics, the passion of music, and the timeless power of the ocean to reveal a profound story: how engineering, once a harbinger of pollution, has been reimagined as a catalyst for restoring marine ecosystems.
Jazz
I immerse myself in jazz both as a performer and an advocate. As the 1st tenor saxophonist for Ridley College’s Jazz Band and Concert Ensemble, I contributed to the ensemble’s success, including a regional silver for the Jazz Band and a regional gold for the Concert Ensemble, which qualified us for the prestigious Canadian National Music Festival. My solo performance of Moondance was a highlight, culminating in a gold medal at the national level.
In addition to my performance achievements, I played an active role in the Jazz Appreciation Club and Jazz Band at Ridley College. There, I studied and taught the rich history of jazz and blues, helping others appreciate its origins. I also organized a concert with over 10 club members, featuring performances by teachers, parents, and students, with proceeds supporting Girl Up STEM initiatives. As the lead tenor saxophonist, I performed solos and improvisations, including on our signature piece, Moondance, and led the band JFAF in the piece "1234567," competing locally and earning the opportunity to showcase our talents at the national level.

SPORTS
I may come off as a bit of a nerd on these pages, but don't be fooled—I have a passion for sports! From sailing and swimming to hiking, cross country, squash, and my absolute favorite, frisbee, I love staying active and exploring the great outdoors.
As a dedicated player on Uptown Local, Columbia’s Ultimate Frisbee team, I train three times a week, focusing on throwing, catching, and strategic gameplay. Since grade 9, I have been the top handler on Ridley’s team, refining precision passing, quick decision-making, and tactical skills, which led to my recruitment by Uptown Local during freshman orientation week for my exceptional handling abilities.
